Adam Melling Wins Vans World Cup of Surfing
A huge congratulations goes out to Australian Adam Melling, who has won the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing hyrdrated by vitaminwater Vans World Cup of Surfing at Sunset Beach, Hawaii - exactly what he needed to retain a position on the ASP World Tour for 2013. Melling won $40,000 and moved to equal second on the Vans Triple Crown series ratings.

Eddie Ceremony
The opening ceremony for The Quiksilver In Memory of Eddie Aikau big wave invitational took place on the sands of Waimea Bay, on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii, today. The 28 Invitees and 28 Alternates of this year's event shared in the celebration with the family of Eddie Aikau to celebrate the life of one of Hawaii's most respected big wave riders and heroes.
The holding period of The Quiksilver In Memory of Eddie Aikau begins this Saturday, December 1, and runs through February 28, 2013. It is a one-day event that is only held if waves hit 40 feet (wave face height) or more. This is the 28th year of the event and it has only been held a total of eight times - the last being in December of 2009. California's Greg Long won that year and today he addressed all who gathered at Waimea Bay with an emotional message.

Winner of the first jewel - the REEF Hawaiian Pro - last week was Sebastian Zietz (HAW). Zietz is seeded through to the round of 64 and will surf on Day 3 of the competition.

Early North Shore Season
Here's some photos from the first few days over here on the north shore of Oahu for the Triple Crown season. The Gudangs picked up their #magicbluebus from their uncle on the south shore, we participated in Da Hui North Shore Beach Clean-Up, and been getting some waves here and there. John John, his brother Nathan & the Gudangs were all up on stage at the Surfer Bar for a Talk Story night too!

It is almost Event No. 9 of 10 on the 2012 ASP World Championship Tour (WCT), taking on the O'Neill Cold Water Classic the first event of the season where the 2012 ASP World Title can be decided and all eyes will be on surfing's top guns as they battle for this year's title. Which means as for the top five surfers it's free game! Joel Parkinson, Kelly Slater, Mick Fanning, JOHN JOHN FLORENCE and Adriano de Souza all could take the crown depending on how each does in this next event at Santa Cruz's Steamer Lane, November 1 - 11th. It's a good day for John John Florence
Today is a great day for John John Florence...he not only killed it in the Rip Curl Pro Portugal it's also his birthday! It is event No. 8 of 10 on the 2012 ASP World Championship Tour and today is resulting in a lot of high scores and drama in the ever- improving conditions. Major shakeups in scores are resulting in a toss up as to who the 2012 ASP World TItle will go to. Considering the conditions of the waves John John has a leg up, best of luck John John and happy birthday.
