G-BROS DOMINATE DAY ONE AT BURLEIGH PRO
Patrick and Tanner Gudauskas dominated day one of the ASP's 4-Star, Breaka Burleigh Pro. As late entries, the Gudauskas brothers were forced to surf in the opening round-of-176 while many of their fellow WCT competitors won’t surf until much later in the draw. However, both didn’t appear phased as Pat blew his competition out of the water in the first heat of the day with a combined two-wave total of 15.83 (out of a possible 20), with his nearest rival, local Gold Coaster and renowned big wave surfer Ryan Hipwood also advancing with his 13.27.

“It was fun out there today, I was really hoping to get through that first heat because I hear the forecast is really good so it would be awesome to see Burleigh pumping,” said Gudauskas.

“I’d never really surfed here until recently, so hopefully I can make it through a few heats and we’ll see what happens,” he said.

Meanwhile, Tanner Gudauskas also top scored in his opening round encounter with a combined two wave total of 13.00 advancing alongside New Zealand’s Matt Hewitt-Lewis (11.33) with young Burleigh Heads local Hamish Whillans unfortunately eliminated in third position with a 6.37.
