Billabong Pro: Day 1

Today was the first day of competition in Jeffrey's Bay. The waves were pumping! Timmy Reyes surfed in heat 6 this morning and ended taking 2nd place. Pat & Tanner found themselves in the same heat along with Fred Patacchia. The boys put forth such an amazing performance, Tanner controlled the majority of the heat sitting in first, but in the final minutes of the heat, Freddy P was able to acquire the points he needed to take the win. Crushing for Tanner as everyone on the beach thought he had won the heat. But since round 1 is not an elimination heat, the boys journey here at J Bay continues into round 2. And as a side note, Pat & Tanner's parents made the flight down to J Bay to cheer them on from the sand instead of behind a computer.

Yoga, Snacks, Watercolor & Jamz

We've managed to stay busy when we're not surfing the perfect waves of J Bay. Tanner's been painting some beautiful pictures, Jams are going down every night, and the waves just keep coming!

Weiner Dogs & Early Mornings

Another early morning! We still haven't adjusted to the time over here. We've been waking up around 4am, stretching and power-psyching, then hit the water around 6:30. I saw this lady walking 6 weiner dogs on the beach, pretty cool. And the boys continued to shred.

Supertubes

Day two the waves cleaned up, and the boys were shredding! As they set up for the contest, people lurk out and watch the surfers. Pat and Tanner are getting plenty of practice in before the comp.

Captain's Log Stardate 7 9 2010

After clocking some serious plane time, we finally made it to Jeffreys Bay, South Africa. It is so beautiful here, we got in pretty late, woke up for some super windy overhead waves at supertubes. I feel like everyone at the contest is gonna have those vuvuzela horns, so the webcast might sound like a world cup game. Stay tuned for more action from J Bay!
